Cooperative Learning and Positive Partnerships!

With third term in full swing it is time to move into project work! Our class has been busy brainstorming, creating and executing! We started off the week by creating a character. The student's brainstormed a character of their choice including what their character's hair looked like, what kind of clothes their character wore and how big, small, fast or slow they were. Of course the character was not complete without a proper name! The next step was create our character puppets. Camryn's mom Sue was a big help and we were all able to finish creating our puppets and use them during our oral story telling time. The children look forward to pairing up with different people each time so that they can meet new characters and create brand new stories! The oral story telling is a great strategy for children to practice expressing their feelings, thoughts, ideas and interests verbally!

We have also been working in small groups to develop our 3D Farming Community. The students broke into small focus groups including animals, people, buildings/machines and plant/trees. They have been working hard to create a realistic farming community and look forward to combining their group contributions into a class display! This week we will learn about nutrition and the importance of all of the food groups! We will even have a special guest come in and teach us the food groups!

With the sun shining we decided to take "Quiet Time" outside this week!

We have had lots of great helpers in the classroom. Adrianna and Samantha explored the garden during Quiet Time

The garden was the place to be for Exploration Time this week!

Can you find the Kindergartener?

Maggie was our Story Teller this week. We practiced being good listeners!

Meet our character puppets!

A big thank you to Camryn's mom Sue who came in to help us create our character puppets!

We are now professionals at executing the "plans" we create!

Lots of materials to choose from!

Our Inquiry Science Project is in full swing!

Students have been creating animals, people, plants, trees and buildings to add to their 3D Farming Community!

We worked cooperatively in groups, first communicating who was in charge of each part of the farm!

This week showcased our class's cooperative learning and the positive environment we have created!
