Spring, Sunshine and Storytelling!

Storytelling is in full bloom in the Kindergarten classroom as are the flowers in our garden! In the past two weeks we have kicked off our Fairy Tale and Storytelling unit as well as created our Storytelling Word Wall. The children have busy at work creating words and pictures to add to our Word Wall, Castle and Enchanted Forest! The children have been re-telling and acting out stories we have read as well as creating their own fairy tales and stories! In the coming weeks we look forward to discovering the various elements in story such as Characters, Setting and Plot! With Spring's arrival, we will be using our outdoor environment in our storytelling as well!

Hard at work during literacy centers searching for their names in the sand!

Some children decided to practice spelling the names of their family members!

Our Fairy Tale and Story Telling unit began with the appearance of the "Enchanted Chest." The children had a great time discovering what was inside and re-telling the story using the objects!

More story telling using magnets

Castle building!

The children enjoyed creating and developing our Enchanted Forest. There is even a fine dining restaurant in the forest!
With the addition of costumes, exploration and story telling has come alive!
